Meet Toni Pisano, Chief Customer Officer and Board Member at PortPro, a technology company with deep expertise in the global drayage industry – helping carriers, brokerages, and 3pls streamline workflows with best-in-class tools to run their operation from anywhere so they can grow their business.
Toni built an expert team of drayage and customer success experts to ensure that PortPro’s clients are taken care of from the minute they join the company by carefully listening to their needs and addressing their concerns.
Toni’s commitment to creating positive awareness of the challenges and opportunities within supply chain and logistics is best highlighted through her work as founder of the Southern California Supply Chain Group, a chapter of the World Wide Supply Chain Federation. This group of 500+ professionals come together regularly to hear important topics from industry leaders from major California ports like Long Beach and Los Angeles, Harbor Trucking Association, S&P Global, and professionals on the front lines including trucking companies and terminal managers.
Toni worked as an Associate at Edison Partners where she was responsible for sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities in the Enterprise Solutions sector - with a primary focus on supply chain and logistics technology. Prior to this she co-founded and served as Chief Operating Officer for Axle Technologies, a robust ELD and Fleet Management Solution for trucking companies in the US and Mexico. Here, Toni managed relationships for 200+ trucking companies and raised seed capital from angel investors; before helping it to be acquired.
Before this, Toni was Vice President of Global Equity Sales at Convergex, an institutional brokerage owned by the Bank of New York and a Financial Representative at Northwestern Mutual where she honed her financial skills. Toni graduated from the Wharton School’s Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program; and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Dance from the University of Arizona.
Toni presently serves as a Member of the Board of Advisors at Aloe Attiva, a waterless, aloe-based and clean skin care product line from Natur Unique - a privately-held company based in Italy. She also serves as a Member of the Board of Advisors at Torch, a VC-backed tech

-enabled digital short-haul 3PL focused on lanes within 50-550 miles.
Technology and software investments are saving these companies invaluable time across all areas of their business.
Dispatch: Real-time status updates reduce the back-and-forth communication between dispatchers and drivers. Plus, dispatchers can automatically track their containers and book appointments instead of checking multiple websites to handle manually, automate customer reports, and manage email communications with AI-enabled tech.
Customers: Drayage trucking companies and their dispatchers love PortPro’s Customer Portal which allows their customers to access real-time data, track loads, and run reports as often as they want. A portal offers full visibility, which can make them a better vendor to their clients, not to mention the time saved from running reports and juggling phone calls and emails.
Drivers: Drivers now can find the answer to nearly every question on PortPro’s driver app – reducing the need for calls, text messages, and tracking paperwork for dispatchers. It also improves service quality since there’s less chance of human error coupled with automated driver status updates through geofencing and timestamps.
Accounting: A modern TMS allows for automation of customer and driver rates, integrations into accounting systems, and an electronic flow of load documentation which allows companies to invoice faster and better manage driver pay – saving time on invoicing and billing and most importantly, improving cash flow!
These time savings can help unlock business success. Every minute saved is an opportunity to grow the business. By automating repetitive tasks and streamlining workflows, drayage trucking firms and their employees can focus on the most important initiatives and, ultimately, improve their top and bottom lines.
Talon Logistics is another great example of how drayage trucking companies can use the time saved to grow their operations. Talon’s annual revenue was $2.5 million when Manny Carillo became CEO five years ago. Talon used PortPro’s technology to make its operations more efficient, enabling it to expand its business from one port in California to 11 ports in the U.S. today. Revenue is now $25 million with 250+ drivers.
Alongside the hard numbers that demonstrate clear success, there are the intangibles. Your team is happier focusing on strategic projects rather than busy work. Customers appreciate quick replies, detailed reports, and the personal touch. They keep renewing with you. Or better yet, they refer your business to another customer, growing your business by word of mouth. When your teams can focus on what really matters, it’s not just your time that improves – it’s the overall experience for both your customers and employees.
Whether you're a big or small operation, whether you work with employee drivers or owner-operators, whether you’ve been in business for 10 years or 100 – we could all use some more time in our days. The companies that embrace time savings through technology will be the ones that thrive and have a competitive advantage.
Think about your time, how you value it, how you want to prioritize it, and how you can free up more hours for the things that matter. The answer might just be technology.
